Initially we will work together to identify what you would like to gain from counselling and what that may look like for you.
If we decide that we are the right fit for each other we will work in ways which are comfortable and beneficial for you. I will provide you with a safe and confidential space to work through the issues that you bring using your existing strengths and helping you to uncover new ones along the way. I regularly review our work together with you to make sure we are headed in the right direction.
I believe in a relaxed collaborative approach that will reflect and suit the needs of the people I am working with. I have trained as a pluralist counsellor and for me that means that I use tools and techniques from a range of modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectal Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Emotionally Focused Therapy. I am also an approved practitioner with the Australian Centre for Eating Behaviours and a member of the Australia and New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders.
I was born in France but was fostered in England from a young age. I studied drama before becoming a facilitator, training groups in the UK in areas such as inclusion, play, participation, equality and diversity. I relocated to NZ in 2007 where I have been fortunate to have two children and retrain as a counsellor.
I have experienced using counselling skills for a national parenting phone line and for an online peer support forum, have generated content for social media as part of a professional member organisation for eating disorders. I have been a counsellor for a Women’s Health Collective and a national NGO. Currently, alongside private practice, I work part time as a clinical supervisor in a digital environment for a mental health text service in the UK.
