Our engagement would involve working in a partnership to help you better understand yourself and develop alternative ways of thinking and managing your feelings. Progress would be reviewed regularly to ensure that we are covering what is most important to you and effectively working towards your goals. Often, attending the sessions themselves is not enough; you will be supported to actively apply skills and strategies learnt in sessions to your day to day life.
I have training and experience in employing various treatment approaches including:
Each of these approaches have been shown to be effective in alleviating various types of issues my clients present with.
I work in a flexible and collaborative manner. I tailor my treatment to the needs of each client. I provide a safe and non-judgemental therapeutic environment for clients.
I regularly attend professional development opportunities and engage in self-directed learning to ensure I am maintaining and developing my skills and knowledge. I also attend regular supervision.
Since completing my training as a clinical psychologist, I have had the opportunity to work in different settings including community mental health; inpatient services; forensic services and alcohol and drug services. Some of these services were in India where I lived and worked prior to moving to New Zealand.
I have been working as a clinical psychologist in New Zealand since 2015.
I have experience supporting individuals with a broad range of issues such as anxiety and mood difficulties; phobias; stress, burnout, and coping; adjustment to loss and life changes; trauma; and behavioural issues. This list is not exhaustive.
Kia ora,
I am a registered Clinical Psychologist working in Wellington and online. I am a co-founder of Whakaora – EMDR Recovery Group. In my practice I work with ACC Sensitive Claims, ACC Psychological Services, EAP, and self-funded clients. I have actively volunteered to provide services for Trauma Aid Aotearoa, supporting communities. I am an EMDR clinician, currently working towards accreditation. I am a full member of the New Zealand Psychological Society and EMDR New Zealand.
Clinical supervision can provide checks and balances for clinical practice. My supervision training utilised a competency-based approach allowing me to provide supervision to a variety of professionals. I have provided supervision to psychologists and programme facilitators.
As a supervisor, I work to foster a collaborative relationship to assist supervisees to reflect on their practice in a safe, supportive, and constructive environment. I do my best to provide strength-based and reflective supervision. I work with supervisees to identify areas of growth and development and work towards these goals. I enjoy collaborating with supervisees to reach their full potential as clinicians, while allowing them a space to safely explore, debrief, get it wrong, learn, and find their own voice as a clinician. I view supervision as a mutual journey towards finding the best way of working for my supervisees.
