A Bit About Me

Life can be incredibly difficult at times – but you don’t have to face it alone.

I’ve lived a rich and full life, complete with its fair share of ups and downs. Like many people, I’ve navigated relationship breakups, the loss of loved ones, menopause, marriage counselling, panic attacks, anxiety, and depression. These experiences have shaped me, deepened my empathy, and strengthened my resolve to support others. I also have a lifelong interest in spirituality and meditation, which has given me practical tools that often support the counselling process.

Over the years, I’ve worked with clients aged 5 to 91, facing everything from grief, sexual abuse, spiritual crises, aging, ADHD, anxiety, chronic pain, and addiction, to friendship struggles, suicidal thoughts, trauma, and loneliness. I’m honoured to have supported people from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds and life experiences.

Alongside my counselling work, I’ve run my own business and led a business association, so I understand the very real pressures of professional life and leadership.

What matters most to me is creating a safe, confidential space where you feel truly seen. I’m known for building quick, authentic connections – and there’s nothing you can say that will shock or scare me. We’ll work at your pace, exploring what matters to you, and finding solutions that suit your life. While the journey can be challenging, I always make room for humour, warmth, and light along the way.

I believe counselling should be as normal and accessible as going to the doctor. My hope is to be that supportive presence for you – someone you can turn to before life becomes overwhelming.

Counselling Background

I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. I work in line with the New Zealand Association of Counsellors’ Code of Ethics and regularly consult with a professional supervisor to ensure you receive the highest standard of care.

I trained in person-centred counselling at Youthline, and have worked in a variety of settings, including a mental health provider, two hospices, an intimacy clinic, and a primary school. My areas of interest include general counselling, anxiety, early childhood trauma, sexuality, spirituality, and end-of-life issues.

Pluralistic Counselling

I take a Pluralistic approach to counselling, which means I believe you are the expert on your own life. We’ll work together to explore what’s best for you, incorporating different tools and techniques tailored to your needs.

We’ll set clear goals to track the progress of our work, and I’ll ask for your feedback along the way to ensure you feel comfortable and supported every step of the journey.
