Are you looking for change, but you’re not sure where to start?
I am a registered Psychotherapist, working with people from all walks of life to identify what is causing distress, and how to remove obstacles to growth.
Whether you come with a specific issue, or a generalised sense that life could be better, I welcome your inquiry.
First, we’ll meet to discuss your goals. I’ll ask some questions and you can do the same. Then I suggest you have a think about whether I’m the right fit for you. If, for any reason, I think another therapist would be better for you, I will let you know.
Once we agree to work together, we’ll find a regular weekly 50 minute slot, which I will set aside specifically for you.
During the first few sessions, I will ask questions about what life is like for you now, and how it’s been in the past. As our work progresses, I will ask you to bring whatever comes to mind. I will not, however, push you to discuss anything you’re not ready to explore.
I will listen closely to get a sense of your experience. As the work deepens, with your permission, I will use “here and now” feedback to compassionately share emotional responses. This will unlock opportunities for you to see things from different perspectives and consider new ways of being in the world.
People often ask; “how long will I need to be in therapy?” The simple answer is that you will be the judge. Some clients, focussed on a single issue, require just a handful of sessions. Others want deeper work, over the period of several years. We can talk about this at the beginning, and again throughout our working relationship.
