I work from a collaborative and strengths’ based approach. I use evidence-based therapies including Motivational Interviewing, Solutions Focussed Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioural Therapies and DBT.

My approach is  integrated – drawing from multiple fields of training and tailored to identified and individual concerns, needs and strengths. Much work is centred in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I frequently use these in conjunction with graphic facilitation and other visual and practical tools.

Counselling for men:

I have a particular interest in working with men and the issues  affecting them. Much of my working life prior to becoming a psychologist was work  alongside men  in both New Zealand and Australia. I regard this mahi as beyond valuable.

Issues may include challenges related to work, struggles with identity and value, sexuality, difficult relationships, childhood abuse, unwanted patterns of behaviour  or overuse related to alcohol, drugs, pornography  and other behaviours.
