I am a kind, positive and creative psychotherapist, group facilitator and supervisor with over 12 years experience. I specialise in anxiety and trauma issues and work collaboratively to build a trusting relationship and clear goals to facilitate change.
I work with all ages (over 12 years old). I have successfully supported people through the darkest of times, people who wish to gain insights into lifelong patterns of behaviour, those who would like to gain some skills for coping, and those who simply need a supportive and non-judgemental ear to listen. I am happy to work with people short or long term, and welcome people from all communities, cultures, sexual and gender orientation and identities. Every person has their own unique history, aspirations and challenges. My role is to facilitate healing in a way that enhances your personal strengths.
My primary training was psychodynamic psychotherapy but more recently I have trained in PsychoSomatic integration therapy and EMDR which are specifically tailored therapies for working effectively and safely with trauma, adverse life events, and dissociation. I also often incorporate cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) and mindfulness to support clients with practical and helpful skills.
I have over 12 years experience in a variety of roles including: counselling, psychotherapy, youth development, community development, research, and management. I am an experienced group facilitator and trainer and have supervised intern counsellors and psychotherapists, helpline counsellors, youth workers and triage staff. I receive ongoing professional supervision and work in accordance with NZ Association of Psychotherapists code of ethics.
I supervise youth workers, social workers, counsellors, and psychotherapists in a strengths-based way that aims to enhance their confidence, knowledge, and sense of professional identity. As the majority of my client experience has been working with complex trauma I am also happy to consult short term or one off for practitioners who would like advice or support with next steps for this client group.
