I offer individual counselling in a safe, supportive space to express your concerns. Together we can explore the issues, make sense of what has happened and find new ways to move forward. I work with a wide range of clients and issues, including trauma, relationship difficulties, anxiety and self confidence. My practice is LGBTQI friendly.
Common benefits that my clients have reported experiencing are:
Reduction in intense emotions, reduction in emotional overwhelm, reduced anxiety, reduced trauma symptoms and enhanced sense of wellbeing. After therapy, life may feel more comfortable and manageable and self confidence, sense of personal boundaries and relationships can feel healthier.
I am trained in DBT, (F)ACT, narrative therapy and person-centred. I value taking a holistic view of issues; relationship trauma affects our nervous system and often shows up in the body and relational dynamics requiring a somatic approach.
My aim is to help my clients get a clearer understanding of what events, personal dynamics, understandings etc have happened or formed that led to difficulties, what is currently happening that is causing ongoing difficulties and then identify alternative stories about yourself or clear steps that can be taken consciously, (or that may automatically start to unfold in your life as a result of therapy). Life happens, – but often what we are looking for is a future that’s not dictated by the past or destined to repeat itself over and over. And that’s where therapy can really help!
I work from my own practice in Mt Eden and also at Visionwest Community Trust in Glen Eden.
I am a Christian who is deeply respectful of all faith/non-faith beliefs. As someone who has seen a fair bit of life and changed career and life perspective along the way, I carry a depth of personal experience and am frequently recognised as having personal and professional integrity.

"Anita is so accepting and easy to talk to. She has helped me see things from a different perspective and given me really practical tools for managing things I have been struggling with. Going to see her was always a highlight of my week!"
"I have now realised that I don’t have to constantly question myself – I can just be accepting of myself. I have also decided that although other people are factors, I can set my own path."
"I am now able to take a positive attitude going into a situation rather than worrying people won’t like me."
