Anthea Hall

Child and Youth Psychotherapist

As a Child Youth Psychotherapist I provide high-quality, evidence-based psychotherapy and counselling services to vulnerable children, adolescents, and families, with a strong focus on trauma-informed care, cultural competency, and holistic approaches. This includes conducting comprehensive assessments, developing personalised treatment plans, and delivering both individual and family therapy sessions.

I create a safe, supportive space where young clients can express themselves through play, sand tray therapy, and talk therapy, depending on their developmental stage and needs. I understand that therapy is a journey, not a quick fix, and I work to help children process their emotions in a way that feels natural and meaningful to them.

Parents are an essential part of this process. I offer parent-only sessions for feedback and guidance, helping you understand emerging themes, noticing shifts at home, and setting realistic expectations for progress. When beneficial, I also incorporate parent-child sessions to support the therapeutic work. Every family is different—some parents prefer regular check-ins via email or calls, while others are comfortable trusting the process with periodic updates. I tailor my approach to what best supports your child’s growth while maintaining a strong therapeutic alliance. My goal is to help your child or adolescent feel seen, heard, and understood, fostering emotional resilience and positive change in a way that lasts.

With children, I am able to work through art and play, to help them identify, communicate and heal anxieties, fears, and behaviours that are causing distress for them and their families.

I offer an approach that is curious but respectful, with a goal of really hearing my clients out. I am trained in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, a talking therapy that helps children and parents understand and change their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, by recognising the emotions, patterns of behaviour, relationships, and past experiences that are contributing to their distress. I will help you understand the root cause of your child’s problems, and assist the development of self awareness, enabling them to cope better with their triggers, and fostering their ability to self regulate.
