I am a Counselling Psychologist offering a collaborative and strengths-based approach. My goal is to help you to navigate challenging times in the hope of finding a more balanced and meaningful way of living.
I offer warm and practical support to help you better understand your emotions, thoughts and behaviour, to discover and enhance your strengths, and to learn new skills and strategies to overcome the difficulties you face.
While confronting our struggles and challenges can be uncomfortable, these times are also a valuable opportunity to learn more about ourselves. Therapy can help you to develop the insight and skill you need to work through painful or challenging experiences. Ultimately, helping you to find ways to live a life with greater flexibility, resilience and purpose.
I am primarily trained in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT). I work with you to adapt these evidence-based frameworks to best suit your needs, depending on your own personal values, strengths and the concerns you would like to address.
I have more than 10 years experience working with adults in a Te Whatu Ora Specialist Mental Health & Addictions service, as well as in private practice. I have experience working with a range of mental health difficulties including anxiety disorders, depression, trauma-related difficulties and substance use problems. I also work with clients on everyday life problems, such relationship and communication difficulties, stress, work/life balance and improving self-esteem.
I provide supervision for psychologists, dapaanz registered clinicians and other registered health professionals. My aim in supervision is to help you reflect on your practice in a way that builds confidence and enhances your skill and knowledge in working with your clients.
