I am an experienced Counsellor with a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology. I support clients with varying issues, from anxiety, relationship difficulties and body image to eating disorders and OCD. Growing up in several different countries has given me a deep appreciation for people of diverse cultures, identities and backgrounds, and has informed my open-minded understanding and acceptance of others. With experience providing long-term, trauma-informed counselling, I offer a safe, collaborative and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, supported and work towards your goals.

Therapeutic Approach

My primary approach to therapy is through Internal Family Systems (IFS), a method that helps clients connect with and understand the different sides of themselves. IFS recognises that, just like a family, our internal world is made up of distinct parts, each with its own unique feelings, motivations, and histories. In therapy, we explore these parts together with curiosity and compassion, working to understand their roles and intentions rather than forcing them to change or go away. IFS aims to create a compassionate inner dialogue, where each part feels seen, heard, and valued. Through this process, clients often experience a new sense of calm and self-assurance, gaining clarity about why they respond in certain ways which can lead to greater confidence and self-acceptance.

While IFS guides most of my work, I also draw from other methods such as attachment-based therapy, person-centered therapy, and trauma-informed care. These approaches support a safe and empathetic environment, helping clients feel respected and understood. I tailor my approach to each person’s unique story, inviting open communication so clients can share their needs, ask questions, and offer feedback along the way. My goal is to help clients gain clarity about themselves and their relationships, and to build the skills they need to live a fulfilling, authentic life.

Q How much does a counselling session cost?

- $180.00 NZD (incl. 15% GST) for a 50 minute counselling session

Q It is my first time coming to counselling, what if I am nervous and don’t know what to talk about?

It is completely normal and very common to feel nervous about a first counselling session. I like to remind my clients that they are in the driver seat, and as a counsellor, I am in the passenger seat, meaning that there are no obligations, and I will go at your own pace. As a counsellor, it is my role to ask the right questions, even if you're uncertain about what specifically is bothering you. During a first counselling session, we will review informed consent and I will ask a variety of questions that will provide some guidance. Any questions you may have can be answered at this time, or at any point throughout counselling. Building a strong therapeutic relationship is vital for successful therapy, and I understand that different clients have different preferences. Some clients prefer uninterrupted self-expression, while others appreciate more structure or guidance. Your session will be tailored to your preferences and what makes you comfortable. Ultimately, in the first session, I want to help you feel as comfortable as possible and get to know you better!

Q Do you offer sliding scale therapy?

I offer a limited number of sliding scale rates for those facing financial barriers in accessing therapy. At this time, all of my sliding scale rates are currently full.
