Families Creating Change

Hello, I’m Christine Burch, a seasoned Counsellor and Family Therapist with 16 years of experience working in Auckland. I’ve had the privilege of supporting individuals and families from diverse backgrounds to develop a deeper understanding of themselves and work towards positive change.

What I can help you with

My goal is to help you build a strong foundation for personal growth and healing. My expertise lies in working with at-risk adolescents and their families within the Youth Justice system. I’ve also helped numerous individuals overcome various challenges, including:

  • anxiety
  • depression
  • anger management
  • relationship issues
  • parenting struggles
  • grief and loss
  • trauma
  • generational trauma
  • PTSD
  • and the aftermath of sexual abuse.

My counselling approach

My approach is centered around empowering you to tap into your inner strength and resilience. I believe that everyone has the capacity to create positive change in their life, and my role is to help you gain insight into your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Through our sessions, I’ll support you in developing new skills to manage problem behaviors and cultivate a more positive outlook.

I recognise that everyone’s journey is unique, and I tailor my therapeutic approach to meet the individual needs of each client. My family therapy work is informed by Intensive Structural Family Therapy, while my individual sessions draw upon Sand-tray therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Gestalt Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy. Additionally, I incorporate the Te Whare Tapu Whā model (developed by Sir Mason Durie) to promote overall wellbeing.

I’m committed to creating a safe and culturally sensitive environment where clients feel comfortable sharing their stories and experiences.
