Individual Psychotherapy

Life can feel overwhelming and does not always go as planned. It throws us unexpected curveballs, leaving us feeling anxious, depressed, sad, bewildered, grieving, and confused. In those times, it can feel like we are at a crossroads – not knowing which path to choose. Talking with a non-judgmental and empathetic therapist can be an important first step towards healing and clarity.

I provide relational and emotion-focused psychotherapy to individuals who would like support during difficult times to make sense of their emotions, experiences, and way of being in the world. I believe in the profound impact of reconnecting our emotions (feelings) to our bodies, as all too often in society, we spend too much time in our ‘heads’ without listening to what the body tells us. I offer a safe space to build a trusting therapeutic relationship to explore what lies beneath the struggles that brought you to therapy. Such exploration helps grow our self-understanding and self-awareness, often leading to more authentic and fulfilling ways of being in the world. I work in an culturally respectful and sensitive manner and enjoy working with clients from all cultures.

Therapy can help with:

  • Manage difficult emotions and thoughts, learning to allow space for them to be processed
  • Improve healthy emotional expression
  • Gaining an increased understanding of the body/mind connection
  • Learning good self-care strategies (and understand the importance of them)
  • Providing a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space to process past traumatic events, as I believe we “have to feel it to heal it”
  • Creating a life that feels more closely aligned with what feels right for you

Areas of interest:

  • Emotion-Focused Therapy
  • Adult ADHD
  • Language in psychotherapy (speaking in native tongue vs. a second language)
  • Trauma – historic and recent
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Substance abuse
  • Grief & loss

About me:

I was born and raised in Switzerland and have called Aotearoa New Zealand my home for over 27 years. Before I became a psychotherapist, I worked many years as a veterinary nurse due to my love for animals. I value a pet’s profound positive effect on a person’s mental well-being.

My passion for psychotherapy developed from my experience of how transformative therapy has been for me. I view psychotherapy as an investment in myself to continue to grow as a person (as this journey is never finished). I feel excited to have the opportunity to help others achieve positive life changes.
