Tena koutou katoa, ko Maungakotukutuku te maunga, ko Wharemauku te awa, ko Kapiti te motu, ko Ngati Apakura te iwi, ko Ngati Pakeha te iwi. Ko EJ toku ingoa.
As a creative arts therapist I use many different modalities such as drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture, movement, painting, digital media and installation as expressions of how we experience our worlding. You do not need to be an artist.
Making art can offer an alternative way of looking at ourselves. I have extensive experience working alongside neurodivergent populations and use somatic and sensory practices to promote regulation incorporating mindfulness and breathing techniques in the therapeutic space.
I work in a client centered way which honors the client as the ‘expert’ and we will often look to the exquisite wonder in nature for inspiration and healing. I believe that authentic and supportive relationships are at the core of a successful therapeutic practice and in this way we will learn together new ways of seeing. We will look at the resources and support systems you already have, identify ones that you may need to develop and learn to be curious and compassionate about our patterns and habitual behaviors.
