Personal exploration can assist in you achieving your desired quality of Life
Hi I am Glenda Stone – Cognitive Behavioural Therapist – Neuropsychotherapist – EMDR Therapist
I have extensive and varied life experience. I have worked in the area of counselling/therapy for 35 plus years. I believe I have had the privilege to be a part of peoples personal processes. I value the importance of sharing our thoughts and feelings and the potential healing this can provide.
I believe I am a committed and compassionate therapist who has had the privilege of working with a wide variety of people and issues over many years. I endeavor to provide a safe and supportive environment for individuals to express and explore their issues. I strongly uphold the principles of confidentiality and professionalism. I consider therapy to be a process of increasing one’s self awareness in order to develop a quality of life. I provide psychoeducation, brief reading and interventions in order to aid the therapy process between sessions. I am open to any queries via phone should you wish to see if you would like to work together.
Cognitive Behavioural interventions (CBT): examines how your thoughts and behaviours impact your mood and how we can change these patterns of thinking. We may also focus on negative internal beliefs you might hold and work to develop more helpful self beliefs thereby improving self confidence, esteem and daily functioning.
Neuropsychotherapy: a brain based framework to assist you in the understanding of your experiences. It is especially relevant for trauma, anxiety and stress
Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing therapy (EMDR): is a psychotherapy approach designed for working with distressing or traumatic memories. The theory behind EMDR is that many psychological difficulties are the result of distressing life experiences which have not been stored in memory properly and are said to be unprocessed or blocked. These traumatic memories may need some help to become processed and EMDR is one way to do this.
Other therapeutic interventions: Narrative therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Mindfulness skills.
I believe therapy is the process of gaining clarity and enhancing one’s self awareness. We will work together to assist you to achieve your optimum quality of life.
I have been working for 35 years within different therapy and mental health services, the last 13 years in Queenstown.
My primary training is CBT – Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Neuropsychotherapy. I am however trained in a number of therapeutic interventions: Narrative therapy, ACT – Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, DBT – Dialectical Behavioural Therapy including Mindfulness skills, and am trained in EMDR.
Happiness doesn’t depend on who you are or what you have.
It depends solely on what you think.
