I offer a non-judgmental and empathetic counselling service. I aim to create a safe trauma-informed space for people to explore and recover from a wide range of issues such as addictions, mental health struggles, sexual and physical trauma and relationship issues.
Confidentiality is of huge importance to us building a trusting therapeutic relationship and you can be assured what is said here will stay here.
We will work together to help identify unhelpful coping strategies that take you away from the life you want to live and the person you want to be, and implement new ways of responding to challenging thoughts, emotions and stressors so you can live the life you want.
I incorporate a wide range of treatment techniques such as CBT, somatic therapy, phase-based PTSD and CPTSD treatment, SFT, ACT, MI, narrative therapy. I believe treatment needs to include a body and mind approach, not just talk therapy.
We will work together on building your capacity to respond to your emotions in a healthy way and soothe your nervous system.
I was born in England and moved to Lower Hutt when I was 7. I am passionate about working with people and studied counselling in my late twenties. I achieved my Bachelor of Counselling in 2012.
I started working in the drug and alcohol sector over ten years ago and developed a keen interest in trauma’s impact on the brain and nervous system, trauma treatment and somatic therapy techniques.
I am also trained in trauma informed yin yoga and used to teach twice a week in a private rehab centre.
