Individuals

In the short term, I can help you address a specific issue that is currently affecting you, such as dealing with a period of heightened stress or anxiety or working through a normal life transition that you are struggling with. An in the longer term I can help you resolve deeper seated issues and longer standing problems that restrict you from living a vital and fulfilled life and having satisfying relationships.

Couples

I work using EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) to help couples find new ways of relating to each other to overcome negative patterns of communicating, and create a more secure, loving and trusting relationship.

Parenting Coaching

You may be struggling with a particular behaviour in your child and not knowing how to respond; maybe not enjoying parenting or feeling stuck in family dynamics that are stressful or unhelpful; or you want to learn a few more skills to parent more confidently. After getting a clear picture of the issues and the needs of your child, I work to empower you in implementing specific strategies to address your concerns and create a more harmonious and happy home environment.

Counselling/Therapy Approach

My psychotherapy training is in Transactional Analysis. I have training in other modalities which have been integrated to offer a way of working that attends to emotion, body awareness, thoughts and behaviour. By holding the space for you to talk, sense and feel we can explore the dynamics of your relationship to yourself and others. Parts of yourself previously unknown may be uncovered and experienced, which can then be understood and integrated and help you feel more whole.

For couples I focus in identifying their relationship and attachment patterns and how they influence the way each tries to get their needs met, and how to shift negative dynamics in a lasting way.

Background and Experience

I’ve been working in private practice for the last 7 years. Previously, whilst training in psychotherapy, I worked for 3 years at the Central Regional Eating Disorders Service in Wellington.

For a period of 8 years I facilitated the Incredible Years programme around Wellington, working alongside parents to help them parent consciously and confidently.
