Psychotherapy, Counselling and Professional Supervision

Psychotherapy and Counselling

Welcome 🙂 I offer:
– a long term stable psychotherapy relationship to bring about sustained personal growth, and
– short-term counselling to successfully navigate ‘bumps’ in the road of life.

How I can help:

I work to build a safe relationship in which we can together compassionately explore what brought you to see me. The sort of experiences I can effectively help with in therapy include:

  • grief and loss
  • depression
  • anxiety and overwhelm
  • work challenges and career changes
  • life transitions
  • difficulty asserting yourself
  • loneliness
  • feeling inadequate or stuck
  • trauma
  • relationship difficulties (professional and personal)

Short-term counselling is for anything that can be effectively worked on in 1-10 sessions.

I work with adult (20yr+) individuals of all ages and from a variety of backgrounds and cultures.

My approach

My approach is warm, compassionate and collaborative. I use my  extensive skills and experience  in an intuitive way to best meet your needs. I aim for you to feel heard, understood, and accepted. Working together we will make sense of your inner world and your life circumstance, and develop the capacity/find healthy ways  to achieve your therapeutic goals.  Over time the therapy process organically increases self-awareness, self-acceptance, and genuine self-esteem.

Professional Supervision

I offer reflective practice/supervision for professionals wanting ongoing confidential support. Professional reflective practice can help to:

  • improve/maintain wellbeing at work
  • increase awareness of self, others, and group/organisation dynamics
  • gain confidence solving problems/critical thinking
  • improve workplace relationships
  • enhance leadership skills

In addition to my therapeutic skills, I bring to professional supervision coaching, facilitation and leadership development skills and experience from my first career.

FAQs

Q Background and Experience

- I have been working as a psychotherapist and counsellor in private practice for over ten years providing short-term counselling and long term psychotherapy.
- I've had extensive training in a variety of therapeutic approaches, and use all of these skills when working with people. My primary paradigm is psychodynamic psychotherapy - a relational depth approach that enables lasting positive change.
- My first career was in Organisational Capability and Development, and many of the skills developed and knowledge I gained, are also useful in my work as a therapist. I changed careers because my curiosity, my own inner struggles and love of learning, propelled me to delve deeper into the human psyche.
