I am a DAPAANZ registered addiction practitioner/counsellor. I work with those affected by addiction and mental distress.
I have seven years of professional experience working with clients in the addiction and mental health field. This has given me a broad range of skills to help people suffering from substance abuse and dependence, depression and anxiety, grief and loss, maladaptive coping mechanisms, physical pain and illness. I understand the struggle intimately – I have a lived experience of acute substance dependence and mental health issues and have found a path to sustained recovery and wellness. I support continued personal growth and practice from a holistic and trauma informed perspective.
I practice person-centred therapy supported by skills in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy. I also draw on somatic theory/body work, mindfulness and meditation, sensory modulation, spiritual and social connection.
I have worked with a diverse range of clients from different cultural backgrounds and varying stages of life. I am warm and non-judgemental and accepting of difference.
Therapy is a collaborative process – working together we can overcome suffering and come to a place of acceptance, hope and healing.
