Counselling

Introduction
I am a Registered Alcohol and Drug Counsellor/Addiction Specialist.

My passion is working with those who want to live life on life’s terms without the use of addictive substances and or behaviours.

I work alongside those who no longer wish to drink or abuse drugs. Or those who have recently relapsed, or who are struggling to maintain their recovery due to a variety of life stressors

I am also available to work with family members who are affected by their loved ones drug or alcohol use, and require additional support and coping skills.

I incorporate a client-centred strengths based approach. My practice is steeped in the holistic belief, that those who seek healing and change shall find it. I include a variety of modalities including Motivational Interviewing and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.  I have most recently incorporated Polyvagal theory into my practice to facilitate soothing of the central nervous system, promoting self sovereignty into your healing process.

Background and Experience

I have been in Private Practice for the past 7 years and have worked with people presenting with a wide range of issues.  I have also worked in the alcohol and drug sector for the past 20 years. I have experience in both counselling and managerial roles in both residential and outpatient  settings here in Tamaki Makarau.

In addition, I have lived experience in the recovery movement with 28 years of continuous recovery from alcohol and illicit drugs. I can work within either a 12 step, abstinence, or harm reduction framework.
