I am a great believer in people. And I believe in our ability to heal, restore and rediscover hope for the future. The famous explorer R E Byrd once said that there are ‘deep wells’ of strength in all of us that are untapped. I consider it a privilege to journey alongside people as they rediscover their strength and work through the challenges that come with life.
I have been in counselling and pastoral roles for many years and have been privileged to work with people from many different walks of life, ages and ethnicities. I have both seen and experienced many of the ups and downs of life that we can find ourselves in, and have come to believe that there is always hope. I have been involved in not-for-profit community work here in New Zealand and overseas, in both leadership and volunteer roles. As a Christian, my faith informs my practice and gives me a strong foundation for the hope that I carry for my clients.
I offer a respectful, safe and non-judgmental space for you to feel comfortable to share your life story and process some of the challenging and painful parts. I work with issues such as anxiety, anger, depression, low mood, grief and loss, confidence and self-esteem, trauma, relationship conflict, workplace conflict, loneliness, and stress management. I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and couples.
Sometimes we can find ourselves stuck and unsure of what the next step is. We need a safe space to talk and begin to find our way forward. Counselling can collaboratively help you unlock the next step in whatever you are facing, whether anxiety, grief and loss, depression, stress, relationship conflicts or whatever it is that is causing you distress. Counselling can help you find clarity and gain confidence to take that next step towards the life you desire.
