Sandy Laurenson - Clinical Psychologist

My name is Sandy Laurenson, I am a Clinical Psychologist who offers online appointments to adolescents and adults.

I have more than 10 years’ experience in both public and private sectors and support people with a range of difficulties such as:

  • Anxiety
  • OCD
  • Stress
  • Low mood
  • Emotion dysregulation
  • Relational difficulties
  • Trauma
  • Eating disorders

As well as those pursuing performance optimisation goals.

Therapeutic Approach

I am trained in evidence-based therapies such as:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
  • Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Mindfulness

I believe applied psychology can help people live the life they want. I encourage those I work with to have a reflective, kinder, less judgmental perspective of themselves and to overcome psychological or contextual barriers that have weighed them down and prevented them from achieving their goals.

I ensure that each person is listened to with the greatest care and believe that the therapeutic relationship is an important catalyst for change. People may explore some tricky material in treatment, but they will feel safe and supported in the process.

I am available Tuesday afternoons and evenings (2.30pm – 8.30pm).

Thank you, I look forward to hearing from you.

Q Testimonials

“I came to Sandy for EMDR as I had been suffering for years with intrusive thoughts and anxiety about incidents in the past. I was a bit on the fence about whether anything would actually work and whether it was worth bringing it all up again. I am so glad I turned up to that first appointment because I can honestly say that EMDR and Sandy's expertise has radically changed my mental health for the better. Sandy is the perfect balance of professional and warm, I always felt comfortable in her presence and I had complete confidence in her guidance and skill as a psychologist. I would highly recommend her to anyone, I just wish I had found her earlier.”

“I felt hopeful from my first interaction with Sandy over email. I then left my first session with the biggest smile on my face, feeling like there was a light at the end of a tunnel I didn’t think I would ever make it through. She listened to me and helped me understand everything I was going through at that time. I felt empowered and was given the tools to handle the intrusive thoughts and anxiety that had been taking over my life. After a few sessions Sandy has helped me regain my life and I could not be more thankful. I would highly recommend anyone thinking of getting in touch to do so. She helped me get my life back.”

"Sandy helped me to move from a very stuck point in my life, using EMDR therapy and her other psychological skills to help facilitate this recovery. During that time, I found Sandy to be warm, kind, non-judgemental and highly skilled in what she does. She also has very strong professional ethics and boundaries and she checked in regularly to ensure that we were working at a pace I felt comfortable with. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is thinking about seeing a psychologist"

“I was lucky enough to work with Sandy over several sessions. She immediately created an environment where I felt completely at ease, and her empathetic and supportive approach helped me open up about my concerns without hesitation. Sandy guided me through strategies and mind maps which I have used and will continue using moving forward while I navigate my challenges. I'm truly grateful for her expertise and genuine care, and the positive impact she's had on my personal growth”

“Sandy helped me make sense of things I was struggling with, giving them context and helping me to make new choices that before had felt overwhelming. She is patient and caring, with the knowledge to collaboratively develop strategies to break through struggles at your own pace”
