I have been practicing counselling for the last 15 years, having seen thousands of clients and witnessing great positive changes in their lives. My background is in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy. My primary type of therapy is Family and Couple Systemic Therapy.
Family systemic therapy is based on the belief that individuals cannot be understood in isolation from one another, but rather as a part of their own or original family (values, believes, role expectations, patterns of communication and interaction etc.). With this training in my practice I apply scientifically validated procedures that recognise that:
Systemic therapy will provide a safe space for you to explore your relationships, thoughts and feelings.
My primary type of therapy is Systemic Therapy, which includes narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, emotion-focused therapy and cognitive behavioural techniques, as required. My background is in Clinical Psychology (recognised in NZ by NZQA) and Psychotherapy. I work with individuals (adults) and couples. One area of significant focus and passion in my work is single-event or prolonged trauma. I am ACC registered.
Please visit my website for further details about the types of issues I work with and any other information you may require.

"Dear Paul, I cannot thank you enough – your counseling opened a new pathway for me and I can now move on step by step leaving some of the burdens of my life behind. My journey is far from over but simply by saying the right things or asking the right questions you set a domino effect in motion that allowed me to follow new trains of thought. Sometimes this meant to delve into the past and revisit painful moments, something I used to avoid – but with your gentle guidance this turned into a healing process. As a result, I am beginning to enter a healthier relationship not only with others but also with myself. Thank you."
