Tena koe. I hold a Bachelor of Applied Counselling and I am a registered professional counsellor (New Zealand Association of Counsellors). I am based in Thames, New Zealand. I work with adults and young people, providing in-person and online counselling.
Counselling proved most beneficial to me when it provided both emotional support and opportunities for learning. I realised that greater self-awareness leads to a deeper understanding of others, improved respect for boundaries, and a greater ability to challenge assumptions rather than succumbing to the anxious tendency to expect the worst. By owning your emotions and bringing unconscious assumptions into awareness, you can transform the quality of your relationships.
I look forward to supporting you in finding what truly matters to you.
Counselling is a collaborative process in a confidential, supportive environment where clients address everyday issues and past challenges. Using various counselling approaches I support clients to gain clarity, focus on feelings and behaviours, enhance self-understanding and growth, develop new ways of thinking, and facilitate positive change, promoting overall mental health and well-being.
I have supported people facing challenges with:
- anxiety
- stress
- depression (including post-natal depression)
- trauma
- grief
- burnout
- career
- family issues (relationships)
- parenting
- self-harm
- suicide
- issues associated with adolescent stage of development and others.
I offer a holistic and client-centred approach to mental health. Methods are grounded in evidence-based practices and tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual. My training is pluralistic. Pluralism in counselling involves both an attitude and a specific practice.
• Pluralistic attitude: Respect for different therapeutic approaches and a willingness to help clients find the most suitable therapy.
• Pluralistic practice: The counsellor utilizes a variety of methods and understandings to tailor therapy to the client's needs, based on what both the therapist and client believe will be most helpful.
In Essence, I am dedicated to nurturing mental well-being and fostering personal growth with a commitment to holistic healing. I look forward to being part of your journey to accomplish your aspirations.
