As a counsellor I’m passionate about walking along side individuals to discover and truly live a life that is personally satisfying and a true expression of themselves. In a non-judgemental place we can explore together what you would like to change in your life and what gets in the way.
We’re not always taught how to handle change or deal with stress and recover from trauma. As hard as we try, sometimes we’re not able to find the way through challenging times without help. Counselling is a way of putting yourself first, in order to help achieve the change you want in your life.
It has been my experience both personally and in my counselling practice that we all have the capability to bring about change in our lives .. so .. together we will explore the problems you are experiencing and I will listen and actively help you understanding what is happening. These new insights will enable you to explore choices around change.
I offer short term and long term counselling for both general life issues and for more specific life challenges. We will discover resources to deal with the issues you’re finding hard right now or look together at past hurts or coping defences that no longer work or cause problems.
Some people come to me knowing that they need to make a commitment to counselling for some time to ensure fundamental change, and others come to solve a particular problem in an otherwise satisfying life, which takes less time.
Person Centred Practice (Rogerian Counselling) underpins all of my work. Central to this approach is the development of an understanding of a person’s experience and perspective of their world. Other approaches include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Transactional Analysis (TA), Imago Relationships Therapy and Therapy with a Coaching Edge (Grodzki). Tailoring my approach to suit the client’s needs is of paramount importance to me.
I have completed Imago Therapy stage 1 and 2 couples training.
