Solution Focused Recovery for Adult Survivors of Childhood Abuse & Neglect – 3 April

A practical workshop designed to equip participants with effective tools and techniques that can be put into their practice immediately.

Going beyond the jargon and psychobabble, this training with international therapist, author, trainer and presenter John Henden focuses instead on delivering practical tools that will make a real difference in the lives of service users.  One study found that as many as 90% of mental health service clients have some sort of trauma background to their current emotional distress.

Proper training and support will ensure you / your team will serve this cohort, effectively. That is why we’re offering this workshop on recovery for adult survivors of childhood abuse & neglect using many of the brief interventions of the Solution Focused Approach.

The workshop covers childhood emotional abuse & neglect, sexual abuse, physical abuse & neglect, and other types of childhood traumas, and communicated throughout the workshop is the message that adults who have experienced abuse and neglect should not be regarded as ‘damaged goods’.  Another message is that life experiences have made us who we are today but we are not to be defined by past events.

It will also help attendees identify the risks and pitfalls when working with adult survivors of childhood abuse & neglect.

Q Workshop Aims

This workshop aims to provide participants with easy-to-learn-and-apply solution focused tools and techniques to work with adult survivors of childhood abuse & neglect, to help them live full and satisfying lives.
Initially, the focus is on affirming and empowering victims of childhood abuse and neglect to regain control over their symptoms. The six areas of work—triggers, flashbacks, intrusive thoughts, sleep disturbances, 'the lows,' and living life to the fullest—are thoroughly examined to provide participants with a deeper understanding and confidence in promoting recovery for this client group in a specialized, solution-focused manner.
Throughout the workshop, the six sections of John’s best-selling, comprehensive handbook, What it Takes to Thrive: Techniques for Severe Trauma & Stress Recovery, are referenced.
