Making the decision to start counselling is often a life-changing one. It is natural to feel nervous about speaking about things we care deeply about.
I believe that building a trusting relationship is the biggest factor in our work together. I work from a person-centred perspective, which simply means that I believe you are the expert in your life and, through the process of talking, you will be able to discover your own solutions.
The trick in talking with someone not involved in your life, is that a counsellor can offer an overview, or even some insight into places where there might be blind spots. In a safe and caring place that is dedicated to helping you make the most of your time, I strive to offer empathy and wisdom.
From the beginning, I encourage you to think about what you want to get out of counselling and chat about that before committing to any sessions. I am committed to making your time as meaningful and positive as possible.

- Most people say they begin to feel better just by starting the counselling process.
- Just taking that first step of talking freely with someone who’s neutral and non-judgmental, and who wants to, and is trained to help, often makes people feel better.
- Putting a timeframe on when you’ll finally ‘feel OK’ is for you to determine.
- It depends on a range of factors, and you should feel you are making progress after the first few sessions.
