Tiera Foy, Counsellor

Working with Adolescents and Adults in Parnell, Papakura, and online

Kia ora and welcome.

I’m Tiera Foy (she/her), a registered counsellor and educator based in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. With 15 years of experience working alongside young people and families—including 7 years as a counsellor—I’m here to support you. I hold a Master of Counselling from the University of Auckland, and am a Member of the NZ Association of Counsellors (MNZAC)

I’m available for in-person and online sessions.

Who I Support

I specialise in working with:

  • Teenagers & young people navigating life’s challenges
  • Parents seeking guidance in supporting their children
  • Big life transitions and the related stress
  • Individuals managing distress, stress, anxiety, or low mood
  • Relationship and friendship struggles – whether it’s communication difficulties, conflict, or navigating changes in important connections
  • Workplace stress, bullying, burnout, or struggling with boundaries – helping you build resilience and regain balance
  • Migrant experience – adjusting to a new culture, staying connected, loneliness and/or grief and loss around shifting country, or loneliness

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or struggling with behaviours impacting your wellbeing, I can help.

My Approach

At the heart of my work is person-centred therapy, ensuring that you feel heard, respected, and empowered. My pluralistic training means I tailor each session using a range of evidence-based approaches that best suit you. I work in partnership with my clients—you are the expert in your own life, and together, we’ll find the path forward. My practice is always trauma-informed, compassionate, and client-led.

A Safe & Inclusive Space

I am a strong advocate for creating safe, affirming spaces for all individuals. I work with:

  • LGBTTQIA+ clients (Rainbow-friendly & polyam-friendly)
  • Neurodivergent individuals, with years of experience supporting autistic and ADHD clients
  • People from diverse cultural backgrounds, ensuring culturally respectful, inclusive, and affirming support
