I am passionate about helping people through their change and growth process. In my counselling practice I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space for you to explore any challenges you face. Together we can work to find solutions so you can live a rich and meaningful life.
I offer short and long-term counselling. As an experienced and empathic counsellor I offer:
My counselling approach is embedded in Client-Centered Practice, which holds the view that people are the experts in their own life. I am also able to integrate other modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy (ST), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Motivational Interviewing. How these modalities are used will depend on your unique experience.
In addition to my private practice I work for an organisation that provides therapy to individuals experiencing grief and loss. Prior to this I have worked for a non-profit organisation providing therapy to adults, youth and children who have engaged in harmful and/or concerning sexual behaviours; and for a Government counselling service specialising in addiction and mental health issues. I have experience working with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, ages, sexual orientations and lifestyles.
Prior to my counselling training I have done mental health support and victim support work.
I abide by the New Zealand Association of Counsellors Code of Ethics and have regular and ongoing supervision, both of which support me to work in a safe and ethical manner.
