My counselling approach is grounded in Person-Centred Therapy, which means I focus on creating a space where you feel truly heard, understood, and respected. I aim to support your growth and healing through active listening and genuine acceptance.
I also integrate Narrative Therapy to help you see challenges from a new perspective—turning difficulties into opportunities for growth and discovering your inner strength and resilience.
Simultaneously, I employ Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as a framework to help you cultivate acceptance of challenging emotions rather than struggle against them. This allows you to focus on what truly matters and take meaningful steps toward your desired life.
Additionally, I apply Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, which helps you tap into your strengths and resources to find practical, achievable steps forward. This approach enables you to see progress quickly, build confidence, and move toward a more fulfilling life.
In our first session, I will focus on three key areas:
1. Creating a Trusting and Safe Space for Conversation:
I will listen attentively and accept you fully, fostering a non-judgmental environment where you can express your thoughts and feelings openly. I will also explain the principles of counselling, including confidentiality, the counselling process, and our collaborative approach. This will ensure that you feel respected and understood.
2. Exploring Your Concerns and Expectations:
I encourage you to share your experiences to help clarify your current challenges, emotional state, and what you hope to achieve from counselling. We may use Narrative Therapy to gain new perspectives on your difficulties or Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to identify your strengths and outline practical steps for immediate change.
3. Establishing Our Collaborative Path Forward:
In our initial discussions, we will probe into your unique needs and experiences, exploring which counselling approaches resonate most with you. Together, we can engage in profound conversations through techniques like Person-Centred Therapy, which emphasizes empathy and understanding, or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), designed to help you effectively navigate and accept challenging emotions.
We will also take the time to identify and outline your initial goals, setting the stage for a meaningful journey of growth and healing as we traverse the counselling process together.
Ongoing Counselling Process:
After our initial session, we will discuss the direction of future counselling sessions and decide how often we should meet based on your needs and circumstances. Everyone's journey is unique, so I will remain flexible to ensure that the pace of counselling aligns with what works best for you.
In our ongoing sessions, we may:
• Utilize Narrative Therapy to reframe your life story, transforming challenges into opportunities for growth while uncovering your inner strength and resilience.
• Employ Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you embrace difficult emotions instead of resisting them, which allows you to concentrate on what truly matters and take meaningful action.
• Use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to focus on your strengths and resources, identifying practical steps that create visible progress in a short time while building confidence along the way.
The frequency of our sessions will be tailored to meet your individual needs. Some individuals may benefit from weekly sessions to provide consistent support, while others, after developing inner strength, may choose to meet every two weeks or even less frequently. The ultimate goal is to help you develop effective coping strategies at a pace that feels comfortable for you, guiding you toward the life you desire.
Whatever your needs may be, I will collaborate with you to find the most suitable arrangement, ensuring that this counselling journey is meaningful and promotes long-term growth and transformation.
